Discover 7 Ways How You Can Learn Mandarin Starting Today!

There are a couple of ways how you can learn Mandarin (Chinese). I will try my best to point out 7 ways how you can easily learn Mandarin starting some within the next 30 minutes. I will also give you an estimate price tag just to help you with your Mandarin learning decision.

1. Mandarin Language Learning Books – Price estimate $60+

The cheapest way to learn Mandarin is to buy Mandarin language learning books at your local bookstore or online. The only big setback with studying Mandarin with a text book is that you will not actually learn how to have an active Mandarin conversation; rather you will learn how to read and write in Mandarin. If that’s what you want then go for it.

2. Interactive Mandarin Learning Software – Price estimate $99+

This is my personal recommendation since today’s interactive Mandarin language learning software programs is affordable and very effective. The Rocket Chinese download created by Rocket Languages Ltd. is my first choice when it comes to its price tag and Mandarin learning abilities. There are more advance software  programs available on the market, however why spend $150 more on a piece of software if a $99.95 can do the same job if not better…

3. Get a Chinese Friend – Price estimate $150+

A fun and social way to learn Mandarin is to get yourself a Mandarin friend in your hometown or city. Go for coffee or just have some fun together. Try to only speak in Mandarin and ask your friend to correct your pronunciation and use of grammar.

4. Mandarin Audio Courses – Price estimate $200+

This is my second recommended way to easily learn basic Mandarin in your own time. There are quit a couple of Mandarin audio courses available on the market and they all promise you the moon. However I would only recommend you use Pimsleur Chinese 1 if you want to learn with an authentic audio based Mandarin course. Just remember that Rocket Chinese also consist out of Mandarin audio lessons and their complete interactive learning program cost 50% less than the Pimsleur Chinese 1 course (There’s three levels to use with Pimsleur Chinese and the complete course will set you back $500).

5. Online Mandarin Programs – Price estimate $300+

I’ve notice that there are a couple of online Mandarin learning programs where you can enroll for Mandarin classes via the internet. It’s basically the same concept as going to a College tutor class; the only difference is that the teaching take place via your computer or telephonically.

6. College Mandarin Tutor Classes – Price estimate $480+

If you have the time to attend a Mandarin tutor class at your local College then go for it. The only problem I have with it is that you won’t get the one-on-one training as you can get from a software or audio course. You will also not be able to learn Mandarin at your own speed since the tutor classes have to complete their course in time period allocated to it. The price tag will also not fit everyone’s pocket.

7. Going to China for one-on-one Authentic Mandarin Learning – Price estimate $2,000+

The last but not least way to learn Mandarin is to go to China and learn the local lingo the traditional way. The two setbacks doing it this way is the price tag to get and stay there and how to get around in the first place without being able to speak or understand basic Mandarin.

My Mandarin learning conclusion:

Buy a Mandarin learning software program like Rocket Chinese to learn basic Mandarin with. Get a Mandarin speaking friend to help improve your conversational skills and finally when you are ready and comfortable speaking Mandarin, go for that long planned trip to China and see how much the Chinese will respect you for all your hard work and Mandarin learning efforts.

Good luck with your adventure "How to learn Mandarin"!
